Scientometrics [科學計量學]是測量與分析【科學】的科學。實務上，科學計量學通常透過書目計量學測量學術出版的狀況。 \\ Scientometrics is the science of measuring and analysing science. In practice, scientometrics is often done using bibliometrics which is a measurement of the impact of (scientific) publications. (Wikipedia, 2010)

儘管科學計量研究是非常客觀的，但有許多科學計量研究的邏輯有著不同的謬誤。這些謬誤的論點可能為真、為偽，但都不取決於過度簡單的化約量化計量模型。過度化約的量化模型可能導致錯誤的預估與政策設計，因而導致災難性的結果。

* 高期刊影響力指數(JIF)的期刊吸引更多引用。(note: 這裡有因果謬誤，因為期刊影響力指數的定義即是來自於引用數量，邏輯上只能論證引用數量多所以影響力指數高，而無法論證出影響指數高而吸引更多引用。儘管此論點可能為真。)
* 知名作者被引用的更多。(note: 這裡可能有因果謬誤：端視知名作者的操作定義為何。若作者的知名性取決於被引用的多寡，則邏輯上無法論證何者為因何者為果。儘管此論點可能為真。)
