* 20th 70-80s, 由舊金山灣區研究者、工程師和設計師的合作。
* 80s 中期，工業設計師 Bill Moggridge 和 Bill Verplane 創造出「互動設計」一詞，用來描述他們的工作。
* 1995, About Face 1 出版。互動設計還是邊緣的荒野。釐清軟體設計與用戶介面設計師。
* 2003, About Face 2 出版。「用戶體驗」成為大眾的新聞。
* 2005, IxD 成立。
